introduction to the project
This Project involved the effort from my biology class swell as my humanities class. Both my teachers had the vision of creating a Science Fiction book that included each of the students stories. So all of us had to write a short Sci fi story in about 2-3 weeks, that is going to be included into our class book, "Pandora's Book".
When we first started the project we began with making a Big Idea Graphic Organizer. We then moved onto a World-Building Graphic Organizer. After, I had to come up with an idea and had to format it into a Logical Leap. I even decided to create my main character and I gave him a Facebook page which you could check out! I then proceeded onto researching more into the science and came up with my first draft.
My final draft can be located here as well as my down draft.

reflection
When I started the project, I was full with a million things I could write about. I was inspired by the moving Spy Kids. And although choosing the topic was quite easy, writing it out wasn't. The hardest part about writing out a science fiction short story is researching everything and trying to find the closest explanation to make it as though everything in the story could be possible. The easiest part was choosing which direction I wanted to go in- a story about a planet that benefits the disabled. That was the main concept that I wanted to illustrate, but I didn't know how to even start it.
My first draft was short, non descriptive and overall it looked like it wasn't anywhere near close to being published. Luckily, after working on it a lot during class and after school, I was able to format it right and research more into the science of it and come together with a somewhat believable story about Tony Requiem and his fantastic discovery.

4 weeks later...
From what I can remember four weeks ago, I know how hard I've worked and I remember how confused I was because at one point, I had so many ideas about what to write about and even when I had already written my second draft, I still thought about writing a totally different story. In the end, I was satisfied with my piece and although I wasn't sure 100% on sticking with that story, I'm glad I did because this is the story I really wanted to write about, I just didn't know if I wrote it the best way. There are things I would change about it however. What I would do differently is plan out all my ideas or make an outline even before I begin to write my actual story. Also, I would ask Mackenzie or Dr. P to read my story and help me one on one. I wish I would've been able to explain my story the way I thought about it in my head but I also wish I would've asked Mackenzie for help on the science portion.
